PATERSON – Superintendent of Schools Eileen F. Shafer congratulated the Kennedy Boys Soccer Knights for their victory over the Passaic Indians in the Passaic County Tournament quarterfinal game on Saturday.

“Kennedy Boys Soccer’s win on Saturday shows what many of us have known for a while already. Kennedy Soccer is an institution that has made Paterson a soccer city. And we couldn’t be prouder of our Kennedy Boys Soccer Team,” said Shafer. “I want to congratulate Athletic Director Scott Durham, Head Coach Richard Solis, Coach Alfredo Serrano, and everyone who works with the Boys Soccer program to draw out the very best from our student-athletes. We wish everyone on the team the very best of luck in the semifinals this weekend.”

The Kennedy Knights were boosted to victory by goals scored by junior Ediel Chirino in the first half and senior Juan Pablo Villena Mejia in the second. Senior Christopher Chavarria got an assist. But in the end, it was senior goalie Javier Sanchez whom the team celebrated for his three saves that kept the Indians scoreless throughout the game.
