    Self Care Calendar

Good morning PPS and Hello April 2023!

Good morning PPS and Hello May 2023!

In 1949, the US Congress designated May as National Mental Health Awareness Month due to the increased number of veterans suffering after returning from World War II.  Here we are, just about 75 years later, and we continue to notice struggling from youth as well as adults - we have the desire to be healthy, feel loved and accepted, heard, appreciated, happy, and sometimes even saved... be it from others, situations or our own thoughts and actions.  During May, we notice nature in bloom as we move out of the cold winter and wet April season; we take in its beauty and find comfort in the warmer, sunnier days on the horizon.  In the self-care world, May aims to allow oneself to highlight your love for life and the strength you have to design the paths that you want to take.

Engaging in a self-care routine has been clinically proven to reduce or eliminate anxiety and depression, reduce stress, improve concentration, minimize frustration and anger, increase happiness, improve energy, and more.  The Self-Care Calendar is meant to provide ideas and affirmations for those who need that little extra reminder to show a little love for themselves each day.

    Mantra for May:

I can pause, reflect and reset when I need to.  I am the creator of my path.  I will achieve great things through small steps.
