SEL: Self Care
-
Hello September and welcome to the 2024-2025 school year!
We are excited to bring back the Self-Care Calendar for its 3rd year! (HAPPY BDAY! 🥳🎂)
For us educators, September signifies the end of summer and the start of a new school year. Perhaps perfectly fitting for us, September is recognized as Self-Care Awareness Month! As our pace changes from relaxing to a fast-paced environment as we re-open, self-care can often take a backseat, but it is crucial for our mental and emotional wellness. Just as we so easily give of ourselves to the students and families we serve; we also need and deserve love and attention. It is not about being selfish, but about recharging so we can be the best version of ourselves for those we care about.
Engaging in a self-care routine has been clinically proven to reduce or eliminate anxiety and depression, reduce stress, improve concentration, minimize frustration and anger, increase happiness, improve energy, and more. We need to stop, take a breath, and remember that we must take care of ourselves if we want to continue to help others. The Self-Care Calendar is meant to provide ideas and affirmations for those who need that little extra reminder to show a little love for themselves each day.
Mantra For The Month:
I am aligning self-care priorities with my daily routine to take my life to the next level. I am worthy of this self-love.
