Everyone entering schools and district buildings will have the option of wearing a mask

PATERSON – District officials announced today that Paterson Public Schools will return to optional masking when schools and offices reopen on Tuesday, January 17th.

Superintendent of Schools Eileen Shafer notified parents and staff members in a letter sent today in which she cited decreasing numbers of COVID-19 cases in the district and in Passaic County as the basis for her decision. She also noted that she consulted with the City of Paterson’s Chief Health Officer, Dr. Paul Persaud, yesterday.

A copy of the letter is here.

District officials will continue to monitor transmission rates and the number of COVID-19 cases daily.
