Feb. 8, 2023 - Board Of Education Commissioners Approve Student Shadowing Program With St. Joseph’s University Medical Center
Board of Education commissioners tonight approved a new partnership between Paterson Public Schools and St. Joseph’s University Medical Center that, starting on May 3rd, will provide district high school students with opportunities to shadow a variety of professionals in healthcare-related fields.

Feb. 3, 2023 - Superintendent Shafer Congratulates Eastside’s Bryce Stokes On Reaching 1,000 Points
Stokes, a senior who plays guard, reached the milestone during the Ghosts’ home game against the Clifton Mustangs last night. Eastside won, 73-51.

Feb. 2, 2023 - Paterson One Square Mile Initiative Launches At Eastside High School
One Square Mile is Montclair State University’s comprehensive initiative designed to aid in the City of Paterson’s community development efforts. The Dodge Foundation has awarded a $1 million grant to the university, which will use it to establish Full Service Community School services at Eastside High School.

Two high school students and two middle school students who attend Paterson Public Schools were honored by the Paterson Youth Council at the 17th annual Dr. Martín Luther King, Jr. Youth Recognition Awards breakfast on Monday, January 16th. Each of the nominees was recognized for their actions that have kept alive the legacy of Dr. Martín Luther King, Jr.

The official opening of the district’s new Paterson STEAM High School today was far from a typical ribbon cutting as district and city officials welcomed former New York Giants wide receiver and Paterson native Victor Cruz who joined in the occasion.

Paterson Public Schools Superintendent Eileen Shafer, Adult High School Principal Nora Hoover, and Mayor Andre Sayegh were among those who honored the dozens of adult students who completed the N.J. Youth Corps program today at the City Council Chambers in City Hall.

Jan. 26, 2023 - “Book Bundles” Delivered To School 16 To Promote Youth Literacy
Students at Public School No. 16 received a donation of about 1,000 books that was made possible by local community organizations and Pat and Walter Boyer, the owners of the Bookends Bookstore in Ridgewood.

Jan. 26, 2023 - Paterson Public Schools, Paterson Education Association Reach Tentative Memorandum Of Agreement
The tentative memorandum of agreement between the district and the P.E.A. will, pending approval of the Board of Education and P.E.A. members, provide for a new five-year contract. The details of the new contract will be announced after the agreement has been ratified by both sides. Dates for ratification have not yet been scheduled.

Jan. 20, 2023 - North Jersey Federal Credit Union Donates $3,500 To Confidence Closets
Superintendent of Schools Eileen Shafer today welcomed North Jersey Federal Credit Union (NJFCU) CEO Lourdes Cortez back to her alma mater John F. Kennedy High School where Cortez presented a $3,500 donation on behalf of the banking institution to the district’s Confidence Closets initiative.

Jan. 12, 2023 - Paterson P-TECH High School Named A State Finalist In Samsung’s Solve For Tomorrow Contest
A team of students from Paterson P-TECH High School has been selected as one of 300 state finalists throughout the nation in Samsung’s “Solve for Tomorrow” contest, a national competition that encourages students in grades 6 to 12 to creatively use science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) skills to solve a community challenge.

Jan. 11, 2023 - Paterson Public Schools and SodexoMagic Announce Food Service Partnership
Paterson Public Schools and SodexoMagic, the joint venture between Magic Johnson Enterprises and Sodexo, Inc., announced their food services partnership. SodexoMagic will provide nutritional services, including breakfast and lunch, to the district’s students, while the district’s Food Services Department will continue to be the School Food Authority providing oversight and monitoring of the overall operations of food services in schools.

Dec. 6, 2022 - International High School Senior Receives Scholarship To Brown University
Superintendent of Schools Eileen F. Shafer announced today that International High School (IHS) senior Johan Beltre Baez has been accepted to Brown University on a full scholarship. The scholarship is provided by the Questbridge Scholarship Program. a nonprofit organization that provides higher education opportunities to high-achieving students from low-income families who would be the first in their families to go to college.

Dec. 2, 2022 - Special Needs Students Receive Sheriff’s Department IDs That Provide Info To Law Enforcement
Special needs students at Public School No. 2 today had their photos taken for new identification cards issued by the Passaic County Sheriff’s Department. The new IDs will provide information to law enforcement officials in the event the students are missing or involved in an emergency.

Dec. 1, 2022 - District’s $7,500 Pre-Employment Agreements Bring In 115 New Teachers
Despite an ongoing national teacher shortage that continues to affect Paterson Public Schools students, the district has been able to hire 115 new teachers with the help of the $7,500 pre-employment agreements it began offering since the Board of Education approved the program on September 14th.

Nov. 29, 2022 - Nine PPS Graduates Receive Scholarships From Independent Chemical Corporation
Nine 2022 graduates of Paterson Public Schools high schools have received partial scholarships courtesy of the Independent Chemical Corporation, based in Glendale, N.Y.
