John F. Kennedy High School to Host CNBC for “Financial Foundations” Event

John F. Kennedy High School to Host CNBC for “Financial Foundations” Event

Paterson, NJ (April 14, 2026) - John F. Kennedy High School will host CNBC on Tuesday, April 21 for its “Financial Foundations” event, an in-person experience designed to help students build knowledge and confidence to navigate their financial futures after graduation.

The event will connect students with CNBC Senior Personal Finance Correspondent Sharon Epperson and members of the CNBC CFP® Circle, a select group of journalists who hold the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ designation. The event is part of CNBC’s editorial efforts for Financial Literacy Month, highlighting the importance of personal finance education. Together, they will lead a series of interactive sessions focused on real-world financial skills and decision-making.

“At Paterson Public Schools, our goal is to prepare every student for success beyond graduation,” said Superintendent of Schools Dr. Laurie W. Newell. “We want every Paterson graduate to leave not just with a diploma, but with the financial knowledge and skills to build a secure and successful future.”

Students will hear directly from CNBC experts, including Kelli Grant, Senior Personal Finance Editor for CNBC.com; Kate Dore, Personal Finance Reporter for CNBC.com; Darla Mercado, Markets Editor for CNBC.com; and Emmie Martin, Money Editor for CNBC Make It. These professionals will provide practical, actionable guidance to help students better understand how to manage money and plan for life beyond high school.

The program will include four rotating sessions covering essential topics such as understanding a paystub, managing expenses, and planning for financial independence.

“We are grateful to CNBC for bringing this opportunity to our students,” said John F. Kennedy High School Principal JoAnne Riviello. “Experiences like this give our students the knowledge and confidence to make informed financial decisions for their future."

By hosting this event, Paterson Public Schools and John F. Kennedy High School continue to expand access to meaningful, real-world learning experiences that support students’ academic and career readiness.
