School Five Student Attendance Policy (Section 2 of 5)

II. The homeroom teacher shall keep accurate attendance records.

A. All absences are cumulative.

B. A truant slip will be sent after the third (3rd) consecutive unexcused day of absence.

C. After the fifth (5th) day of an unexcused absence, a letter will be sent to the student's home, notifying the parent of guardian.  The classroom teacher will confer with the student regarding the absences and the importance of attendance.  An attendance officer will deliver the letter to the home.

D. On the tenth (10th) day of an unexcused absence, a second form letter will be sent to the student's home.  The parent or legal guardian will be required to come in for a conference with the principal's designee.  An attendance officer will deliver the letter to the home.

E. On or before the day of the fifteenth (15th) unexcused absence, a letter will be sent to the student's home.  A conference with the parent of legal guardian of the student is then mandated with the social worker.  An attendance officer will deliver the letter and get the signature of the parent.  The social worker will discuss the seriousness of the absences.

F. On the twentieth (20th) unexcused absence, the principal shall notify the parent or guardian that the student cannot be absent again or he/she may forfeit promotion.
