PATERSON SCHOOLS’ CHIEF CONVENES ALL EMPLOYEES
FOR OPENING DAY ADDRESS – FIRST IN DISTRICT HISTORY

Aptly timed for the first day of September, all full-time employees of Paterson Public Schools will participate in another huge “first” tomorrow when State District Superintendent Donnie W. Evans convenes an All-Staff Meeting on staff opening day—September 1, 2009.  Dr. Evans, who was appointed to lead Paterson in May, 2009, will present in one place and at one time, his mission and vision for the renewal of New Jersey’s third largest school district.  The new leader, who considers every employee to be essential to this effort, will define his strategy for closing the achievement gap, improving operations, raising graduation rates and ultimately making this diverse and historic district a statewide leader in urban education. While school employees officially return to work tomorrow, the new school year begins for Paterson students on Thursday, September 3.

To be held in the Recreation Center at William Paterson University at 10 am, the Superintendent’s All-Staff Meeting will include student performances and a message from the New Jersey Commissioner of Education, Lucille E. Davy; as well as remarks from Paterson Public Schools’ union presidents, and the Paterson Public Schools’ 2009 Teacher of the Year. Copies of the Superintendent’s address as well as post-meeting interviews are available by request.
