Alternative High School Assessment (AHSA) to be offered for
students who did not attain adequate “HSPA” scores.

PATERSON – May 3 – Help will be available for those Paterson Public Schools high school seniors who did not receive an adequate score on the recently administered state High School Proficiency (HSPA) and Alternative High School Assessment (AHSA) exams. On Monday, May 10, 2010, State District Superintendent Dr. Donnie W. Evans will be hosting a pair of Community Forums outlining the Alternative High School Assessment (AHSA) exam that will be offered to students from July 26 to August 13. These community forums will feature a presentation by Mr. Stan Karp of the Educational Law Center and will be followed by a period of public comments and questions. It is strongly recommended that those students and their parents attend one of these community forums to learn all about the AHSA exam and how they can prepare themselves to achieve a passing score. The community forums will take place at John F. Kennedy High School auditorium, 61-127 Preakness Avenue, beginning at 5:30 p.m. and again at Eastside High School auditorium, 150 Park Avenue at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, May 10, 2010.
