Dr. Evans' Message
Change is in the Air
I recently had the honor of speaking to an audience of young adults who have dedicated a year to community service programs at our local schools. Their energy and enthusiasm is contagious, and their commitment to serving others is inspiring.
I have often commented that “it takes a village” to create and implement the programs that are greatly needed to help our children succeed today and tomorrow. We have certainly had our challenges; but as I reflect on the first half of this school year, we have also witnessed several successes including the grand openings of our new Pre-K school on Madison Avenue, our first Full Service Community School at PS #5, and the three new autonomous schools at Eastside High School.
There is still much more work to be done and I hope that we can inspire many more community members to help support our mission to prepare each student to be successful in the institution of higher education of their choosing and in their chosen career.
I would like thank all of the parents, community organizations and local political leaders who have supported us throughout this challenging year.
Change is in the air and I encourage all of you to join us as we continue on our journey to become a leader in educating New Jersey’s urban youth.
On behalf of the Paterson Public School District, I wish you and your families a wonderful holiday season and a safe, happy and healthy New Year!
