Dr. Evans' Message
It’s Time for Paterson Students to Shine…State Assessments Start April 27!
Our first priority in the new District Strategic Plan is to establish effective academic programs, so that students will be well prepared to succeed in the institution of higher education of their choice and in their chosen profession. Our annual state assessments, which begin next week, are a very important part of that process.
While each and every school day is important, during the next six weeks (see schedule below), it will be critical for our students to arrive to school on time, ready to perform at their best. Our teachers and students have worked extremely hard and while we hope for the best results, we also depend on the annual assessments to tell us what every students needs, academically.
Parents and guardians, please mark your calendars as follows:
- April 27-30 Grades 7 & 8 will take the NJ ASK
- May 3 – 6 Grades 5 & 6 will take the NJ ASK
- May 10-14 Grades 3 & 4 will take the NJ ASK
- May 17-18 Biology students will take their end-of-course exam
- May 24 Algebra I students will take their end-of-course exam
Parents and guardians, you can make a difference! Please make sure that your children receive a good nights’ sleep and breakfast prior to the school day. Become acquainted with the testing calendar, so that you know what days are especially essential for student attendance.
Community members, we appreciate your help and support as well! We are working to help our students understand the connection between school and careers. Many of our business owners and residents are helping inspire our students to work hard and dedicate themselves to a bright and satisfying future. Please lend a hand if you can.
Truly, every resident in “this village” needs to support our efforts to increase and strengthen academic achievement. Let’s work together to help every Paterson child “shine,” during the upcoming state assessments, and throughout their academic and professional careers.
