2020 SUMMER SCHOOL PROGRAMS


The Paterson Public School District will be providing all students in Grades K-8 the opportunity to participate in a virtual eLearning experience. A virtual platform will be made available through a forthcoming link, enabling families the ability to engage in asynchronous learning in the content areas of math, language arts, STEM, art, physical education and social emotional learning.

This program is for students with disabilities in grades PreK-12th who require a summer program as indicated in their Individual Educational Plan (IEP). The program reinforces skills in all academic areas and social skills to support students' from regressing. Students will engage in motivational activities to support their social and emotional well-being during the Pandemic

Daily lessons at posted times between 8:00AM - 12:45PM

Audience

Grades 9 - 12

High school summer school courses are offered for students who need to recover credits for up to two (2) failed courses. Daily attendance in the program is mandatory. The 2020 program will offer credit recovery opportunities in required courses in the following content areas: ELA (English), MATH, PHYSICAL EDUCATION & HEALTH, ESL (English as a Second Language), WORLD LANGUAGE, SCIENCE & SOCIAL STUDIES as well as in several other course options. All courses will be offered in an online/virtual format with both real-time meetings/instruction, as well as independent online course work.
Families of students required to attend summer school will receive letters with directions for online regislation. All students who receive notification from their Guidance Counselors and/or School Administrators and./or Central Office personnel must register.

Students must register prior to posted deadline.

. The HS Summer School attendance policy will be strictly enforced.

. Students who exceed two (2) absences will be dropped from the program.

Therefore, ADHERENCE to the ATTENDANCE POLICY above is very important.

A virtual platform will be made available to students who register within their Google Classroom for Summer eLearning, enabling students the ability to engage in synchronous learning in the content areas of Math, Language Arts, STEM, and Social Emotional Learning from July 6, 2020 through July 31, 2020. Students will also have access to participate in asynchronous learning in the areas of art and physical education.

The on line Newcomers/Magnet Summer Enrichment Program is designed to provide academic support in different content areas. The program is available for students entering Grades 5-8 who are currently enrolled in the Newcomers/Magnet Programs for the 2019-2020 academic year. Emphasis is focused on expanding oral language development and strengthening reading and mathematics skills. Special emphasis is placed on building the academic vocabulary of our English Language Learners.ESL teachers will develop language learning through the SEL component.
